Question by Elle F: Cheap designer bags in New York?
I’ve been advised on some outlet malls in jersey but would prefer to stick to something in manhattan. Are there any outlet malls or cheap places where I can get genuine designer bags?

Designer bags have a retail price across the board. If they are cheap it is very very likely that they are fake. Be very cautious where you buy them.
Always stick to the boutiques ie Prada boutique, Chanel boutique otherwise big department stores like Saks and Bloomingdales have them. Little stores in a mall are not authorised to sell these items by the fashion house and although it might cost you a few hundred dollars it is an expensive fake.
What I would suggest is either just choose the bag you want and save up if you don’t have the cash or I would shop during the sales times t the department stores. Often there can be big savings on things like Marc Jacobs and Dior bags after christmas (perhaps the sales are still on too). Otherwise I have heard there is a place called woodbury commons outside of the city that has discounted authentic designer stock.
Please don’t buy fake.

Looking for cheap disigner bags, may I recommend Canal Street in Lower Manhattan and the Central 21 department store, which is located at Church and Cortlandt Streets also in Lower Manhattan.
Good luck
I agree with Native New Yorker. I have bought almost all of the handbags that I own at Century 21 Department Store (downtown Manhattan) for a fraction of the retail price and they include brands such as Nine West, Guess, Kenneth Cole, etc.
Another good place to check is T.J. Maxx. There’s one located in the Chelsea area of Manhattan (19th Street & 6th Avenue). They carry a large selection. Also, look out for sales at Macy’s. You may be surprised at what you’ll find. They tend to have sales on handbags often to restock their inventory.
